2016年3月22日、三菱重工業は、アラブ首長国連邦（UAE）のドバイ政府宇宙機関であるMBRSC（The Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre）と、H-IIAロケットで火星探査機を打ち上げる契約を結んだと発表した。
三菱重工業の宇宙輸送サービスが外国顧客と契約を結んだのは今回で4件目だが、地球を脱出する惑星探査機の打ち上げを受注したのは今回が初。また、UAEの火星探査機「アル・アマル」（Al Amal）はアラブ諸国初の火星探査機。
打ち上げは2020年を予定しており、開発中のH3ロケットではなく現行のH-IIAロケットを使用する。
同日、宇宙航空研究開発機構（JAXA）は、アラブ首長国連邦宇宙機関と機関間協定を結んだことを発表した。この協定は火星探査だけでなく、国際宇宙ステーション日本モジュール「きぼう」の利用など、幅広い協力関係の構築を目的としているという。

On March 22, 2016, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries announced that made a contract to launch Mars probe by H-IIA rocket with MBRSC(The Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre ) in Dubai government space agency of the United Arab Emirates (UAE ) .
This is 4th time for Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. of the universe of transport services has signed a contract with a foreign customers, but having accepted an order of the launching of the planetary probe which escaped on the earth this time for the first time.
In addition, Mars spacecraft of UAE "Al-Amal" is the first Mars probe in the Arab countries.
The launch is scheduled for 2020, to use the current H-IIA rocket, rather than H3 rocket under development.
On the same day, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) has announced that has signed the agency agreement between the United Arab Emirates Space Agency.
This agreement is not only Mars exploration, such as the use of the International Space Station Japanese module "Kibo", that is intended to build a wide range of cooperative relations.
